When we experience fear or trauma, it’s natural to avoid the things that remind us of it. Over time, this avoidance can keep the fear going.
Graded Exposure helps by gently and gradually facing the situations, memories, or experiences that have been avoided, in a safe and supported way. This can help reduce fear and build confidence over time.

Parts Work is based on the idea that we all have different “parts” within us that respond in different ways. For example, one part may feel fearful or angry, while another part may feel calm, hopeful, or protective.
Sometimes after trauma, the more distressed parts can take over, making it harder to feel balanced or safe. Parts Work helps us better understand these different parts, support the more vulnerable parts, and reconnect with the calmer and healthier parts of ourselves.
It’s Okay to Ask for Help
We all go through difficult or upsetting experiences. Sometimes we push them aside and carry on, thinking we’ve dealt with them. But if those experiences weren’t fully processed, certain situations later in life can trigger strong reactions, and the “just ignore it” approach may not work as well as it used to. That’s often when people decide to seek support.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people process and reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories.
During EMDR therapy at our Paddington clinic, we work collaboratively at your pace to process distressing memories. By utilising bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements or tapping—we support you to organically reprocess stored trauma and reduce the intensity of current emotional triggers. This evidence-based psychological approach aims to shift how traumatic memories are held, helping you to move forward with a restored sense of control, long-term emotional stability, and practical coping strategies.
